Neutrino Distributed Wireless Sensor

The proliferation of wireless networks has created the need for wireless tools equivalent to those used in wired networks. These tools include packet capture and analysis, traffic analysis, intrusion detection and location based analysis.

Monitor All (802.11a/b/g) WLAN Standards

The Neutrino Sensor is a surveillance agent embedded in a low cost hardware appliance. It continuously monitors 802.11b and 802.11g in 2.4 GHz band and 802.11a in 5 GHz band. Sensors can be deployed in branch offices, accessed across the public Internet and through multiple firewalls. Sensors also support 802.3af power-over-ethernet which allows operation without a nearby power outlet.

The Neutrino Sensor performs packet analysis and statistics collection. The results of the packet analysis are periodically forwarded over the Ethernet network to a Management Applicaton. The Management Applicaton aggregates information from multiple sensors and enforces security or operational policies.

The diagram below shows a typical installation:

One or more Neutrino Sensors are deployed on the local area network. Sensors can also be deployed in branch offices, accessed across the public Internet and through multiple firewalls. The Management Console provides central control and monitoring for all Sensors.

Neutrino Sensors can be used in conjunction with a wired Intrusion Detection System (IDS), such as Snort. If a wired IDS is used then it is placed between the wireless access points and the rest of the LAN.

Neutrino Sensors are part of the Network Chemistry Wireless Intrusion Protection System. The system also includes the Fusion Management Application. Fusion provides instant network status visualization and experts for the detection of wireless intrusions, such as rogue access points, and network configuration problems.

The Neutrino Sensor is available for OEM applications. OEM inquiries are welcome.
