Senior Search Engineer
Reports to Chris Waters, founder and CTO
Are you a brilliant engineer looking to revolutionize the way people use search technology?
Do you want to create something that will change the way people look at and use IT information, and work with cutting-edge search, collaboration, and social networking technologies at the same time? We are looking for a senior search software engineer who lives and breathes information retrieval. If this is you, we want to hear from you!
Description
As Senior Search Engineer, you will have an excellent opportunity to jump into a budding company with both feet.
We're in a unique position in that we just successfully sold our wireless security business to Aruba Network and are using the proceeds to accelerate our on-demand offering. We are now fiercely focused on changing the way people think about IT management. Specifically, we are operating in stealth mode on a project code-named "Wishbone" ( www.projectwishbone.com ). The Beta will officially be unveiled in late Summer.
We've actually been working on Wishbone for over a year now. Wishbone breaks down the walls between isolated IT silos by using search algorithms to find the hidden relationships between data from different systems and devices. It will instantly and securely make IT information accessible.
Wishbone taps into the $10B+ IT management market and the rapid adoption by companies large and small of on-demand services and SaaS. It will also create a powerful new tool for professional service providers in the $50B+ Web-based IT development market.
We're different than most pre-launch companies in that more than 500,000 individuals and businesses already use our open source tools. The users of these tools have helped us create the world's largest collaborative device-classification index.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has helped build an online search engine, and scaled it from zero to petabyte size
- Is familiar with Lucene and Hadoop (major bonus points if you have contributed to any open-source information retrieval project)
- Is just as happy coding in C++, Java, or Ruby, depending on the task
- Wants to work in a fast-moving, online environment where the end-user is King, and providing useful, timely and accurate search results is the goal
We are committed to being great, and we want someone who:
- Can work at a fast-paced startup where the feedback cycle is measured in hours rather than weeks
- Is seeking a career-defining opportunity and a proven, results-oriented team
- Has a background of delivering superb work on schedule
For immediate consideration, please submit your resume to jobs@networkchemistry.com. We will get back to you shortly.
Notice: Network Chemistry is currently not accepting any applications from recruiting agencies or specialized search firms. Due to the heavy number of inquiries, we are unable to return phone calls from agency or search firms. If you would like to send us your information for future reference, you may do so by sending it to jobs@networkchemistry.com.
Thanks for your interest.
